Steller's Jay Nesting Page 2019

The Story

Last Week a group of Steller Jay's stopped by and asked if they could build a nest on my houses power meter box? Well I explained I didn't know how the power company would feel about them just moving in without permission?

So I had them sign a rental agreement which I could present to the power company in the event they thought there were squatters on the land. So with the rental agreement signed they began building their home on the rented space we agreed on.

The construction began on Thursday June 13th and was completed on Saturday June 15th.

As of Late Sunday June 16th there are four eggs in the new home and Mom can be found most of the time doing general house cleaning and home repairs as well as keeping watch on the new eggs. Dad however has the job of providing both hi level security, and 3 hot meals daily with desert.

Both Mom and Dad have asked the Lord for two boys and two girls, So let's see how well they do?

.

The webcam system will monitor the nest from 3pm until 9pm each day. After 9pm the webcams will reset back to normal views from 9pm until 3pm This new schedule will continue until the family decides to fly away to some paradise only they know of......

Enjoy watching all the action from the new nest camera.

Two of the four have departed the nest as of early Saturday Morning 7-27-19 The two left seem a bit smaller and may need another few days before they head out to see the world, we will see?

The last two birds left the nest late Sunday Evening

So I guess this story ended on a good note. All four have departed the nest and can be seen in the area practicing their flying skills. I wonder if the new birds will return next year to raise a family of their own on top of the power company box they used this year? we shall see.

Thanks to all of my website users that sent in comments and I hope you enjoyed watching the birds grow up and fly away, like I did.

Mike
